Monday, February 15th:


Kids: African Dance, Story & Song

Children of all ages and their caregivers are invited to Oceanside Public Library for an engaging dance performance with Teresa Smith, who will bring highly interactive African dance, story, and song to the Library celebrating African heritage. She comes costumed in brilliant colors to reflect African heritage and will delight everyone with her smile, warmth, and enthusiasm. Dancer, choreographer, instructor and performer, Teresa Smith has been studying dance from the age of seven. Having studied intensively multiple forms and styles of dance, Teresa has performed with the likes of MC Hammer, Sheila E, Akon, Shakira and Le Ballet de Kouman Kele.

Valentine's Day Fun Run

Celebrate Oceanside Valentine's Week by going to OMG's Tuesday Night Run at Endurance House. This is a FREE Event and is OPEN to the PUBLIC. Join the 3-5 mile run (at your own pace), then stay for champagne and chocolate. All abilities are welcome. There will be a Valentine's themed costume contest, with prizes granted to the top costumes.

Open Mic Night at Legacy Brewing Co.

Paint N Enjoy

Enjoy a beer while feeling artistic! Paint N Enjoy is happening every Wednesday evening at Surfside Tap Room. 1st Marine Division Band Annual Concert

Camp Pendleton's finest fifty musicians will return to the California Center for the Arts, Escondido (the Center) the third week of February to entertain audiences during the 1st Marine Division Band Annual Concert. In this concert, the band will perform masterful renditions of everything from marches to movie themes. The group will also be featuring several soloists who will be accompanied by the band. Sunset Market

Thursday is Market Day in downtown Oceanside! From 5pm-9pm, the sun begins to set and the family-friendly Sunset Market comes alive. This outdoor style festival brings together international food vendors, live entertainment and a children's area - make an evening of it, stay and eat dinner! The market also includes over 100 arts and crafts vendors, making it a wonderful place to purchase the perfect gift or souvenir. Well behaved pets are invited to attend the market.

Live Music: Imagery Machine, Duping the Public, Mittens

Enjoy a Friday night in February while you are in downtown Oceanside with LIVE Music at the Pour House on the 19th starting at 9:00 pm with San Diego rock band Imagery Machine. Following Imagery Machine is Duping the Public, a five-piece folk rock band based in Golden Hill-San Diego. Winding it up is San Diego indie band Mittens, that is heavily influenced by the pop sensibilities of The Cardigans, Tiger Trap, The Pretenders, and Rilo Kiley; just to name a few.

Scholastic Surf Series: High School & Middle School Surfing Competition

Surf teams on the high school and middle school level will be taking on the Oceanside beach break at the Oceanside Pier beach southside on Saturday, February 20th and Sunday, the 21st. Bring your beach chair, beach towel, sunblock and check out some great young surfing talent competing on their surf teams while relaxing in the warm sun and sandy beach setting! Who knows? You may be watching future pros! Free and open to the public, all ages will enjoy!

San Dieguito River Park Bird Walk

Join John Haddock as he leads the birding group on San Andres Drive of the San Dieguito River Park in the Del Mar area on Saturday, February 20 at 8:30 a.m. Spend some time identifying water fowls and shorebirds that come to spend winter in the North County's coastal wetlands. It's a beautiful, scenic nature walk on a SoCal February day!

The North County Model Railroad Society (NCMRS) has just moved to its new home in Oceanside's Heritage Park. Families are invited to the North County Model Railroad Museum every Saturday from 10am-3pm for the "Trains for Kids" program; welcoming children to run and the operate model trains.

Kids: American Sign Language Story Time



ASL Story times incorporate actual teaching of American Sign Language while singing and signing kid-friendly stories and songs aloud. Story ACYS_Storytime-StorySign_flyer-03times develop early literacy, Deaf Culture awareness, social skills and inspire a love of language. This free program is for children ages 12 months of age and older, and their parents or caregivers. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Mission San Luis Rey

Explore areas of Mission San Luis Rey that are not normally open to the public; including the private rose gardens and the pepper tree. The special behind-the-scenes tour is available most Saturdays beginning at 1 pm. Tours are lead by Mira Costa College History Professor, Brad Byrom guaranteed to inform and entertain. Pre-registration is encouraged. Participants should arrive by 12:45pm to check-in. It is suggested to wear comfortable shoes, bring a water bottle, a hat and sunscreen.

Tango on the Beach

Tango on the Beach is a favorite for visitors and locals alike. Head over to the Pacific Street Linear Park outdoor pavilion just across the street from the beach at sunset. Enjoy Tango music and an introductory Tango dance lesson. This event is open to all skill levels. We don't believe in two left feet. Dancing can be learned and learned at all ages.

Oceanside Theatre Company presents "Proof"

Oceanside Theatre Company presents "Proof" by David Auburn on Fridays & Saturdays 7:30pm and Sundays 2:00 pm from February 5 to 21 at The Brooks Theatre. The play is directed by Christopher Williams, the theatre's Artistic Director. "Proof" is winner of 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play.The story unfolds on the eve of Catherine's twenty-fifth birthday, a troubled young woman, who has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father's who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: how much of her father's madness--or genius--will she inherit?

Their only refuge is with best friend, Oscar/Olive Madison, a recently divorced sportswriter whose apartment is a study in slovenly chaos. Friends, yes, but will they drive each other crazy?!
