Color Your World – Opening Day at the Flower Fields in Carlsbad
For over sixty years, Mother Nature has transformed the rolling hills of San Diego’s North County into one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world.
The nearly fifty acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that make up The Flower Fields® at Carlsbad Ranch, in Carlsbad, California, are in bloom for approximately six to eight weeks each year – from early March through early May – literally bringing the famous fields back to life. This annual burst of color, which has become part of the area’s local heritage, is also one of nature’s official ways of announcing Spring has arrived in Southern California.
Popular Flower Field attractions include an antique tractor wagon ride, an American Flag of Flowers, metal art sculptures and more!

2-Day Class for Expressive Drawing & Painting

Thursday is Market Day in Oceanside! Mingle with the locals and experience Southern California’s cornucopia of fresh produce and flowers. Sunset Market
Thursday is Market Day in downtown Oceanside! From 5pm-9pm, the sun begins to set and the family-friendly Sunset Market comes alive.
This outdoor style festival brings together international food vendors, live entertainment and a children’s area – make an evening of it, stay and eat dinner!
The market also includes over 100 arts and crafts vendors, making it a wonderful place to purchase the perfect gift or souvenir.
Well behaved pets are invited to attend the market.

Friday, March 4:
First Friday: Oceanside Art Walk
Join us as we celebrate our thriving arts district in the heart of downtown Oceanside. The First Friday: Oceanside Art Walk will showcase vibrant art, live performances, music, poetry, art education, activities, culinary and pop-up art galleries showcased in local businesses and public spaces. It varies each month.
Event maps will be distributed every month, listing that month’s locations, art happenings and sponsors.
Admission to all venues is free and open to the public of all ages.

Saturday, March 5:
San Luis Rey River & Beach Cleanup
Local citizens are banding together to tackle litter in the San Luis Rey River and Oceanside beaches. The City of Oceanside Clean Water Program will be hosting the San Luis Rey River Cleanup event on March 7, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Volunteers can choose from four locations along the San Luis Rey River and two beach locations:
- Highway 76 and Benet Road
- Highway 76 and Fousatt Road at the bike path
- Douglas Drive at the bike path (SW corner)
- Mance Buchanon Park on College Boulevard
- Buccaneer Beach at 1500 South Pacific Street
- Oceanside Pier on the north side
Volunteers receive cleanup supplies, refreshments, and community service hours. You can help minimize the event’s carbon footprint by bringing you own bucket for trash, reusable gloves and a reusable water bottle.
The Oceanside Clean Water Program wants to recognize event sponsors who regularly help with cleanup events along Oceanside waterways. Harrah’s Rincon Resort has adopted Buccaneer Beach and recruits volunteers from their HERO Team to coordinate cleanup events three times per year. Surfrider, San Diego Chapter also coordinates monthly cleanup events at the Oceanside Pier. Both of these groups will host beach sites for this event.

Trains for Kids
The North County Model Railroad Society (NCMRS) has just moved to its new home in Oceanside’s Heritage Park.
Families are invited to the North County Model Railroad Museum every Saturday from 10am-3pm for the “Trains for Kids” program; welcoming children to run and the operate model trains.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Mission San Luis Rey
Explore areas of Mission San Luis Rey that are not normally open to the public; including the private rose gardens and the pepper tree. The special behind-the-scenes tour is available most Saturdays beginning at 1 pm.
Tours are lead by MiraCosta College History Professor, Brad Byrom guaranteed to inform and entertain.
Pre-registration is encouraged. Participants should arrive by 12:45pm to check-in.
It is suggested to wear comfortable shoes, bring a water bottle, a hat and sunscreen.

Tango on the Beach
Tango on the Beach is a favorite for visitors and locals alike. Head over to the Pacific Street Linear Park outdoor pavilion just across the street from the beach at sunset. Enjoy Tango music and an introductory Tango dance lesson.
This event is open to all skill levels. We don’t believe in two left feet. Dancing can be learned and learned at all ages.
