Events Happening This Week

Happy New Year, Oceanside! Now that we are a few weeks into 2016, we want to fill you in on some of the events happening this week. As usual, there is so much going on for everyone! Be sure to get out there, check out the events happening this week and enjoy our beautiful town!

Open Mic Night at Legacy Brewing Co.

Come down to Legacy Brewing Co. for Open Mic Night, hosted by Bob Peace, every Tuesday from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Starting at 5pm, $1.50 tacos are served by El Pueblo Catering. Enjoy one free beer by getting on stage to perform, or just come down to support other local talent. Either way, it’s a great night of fun and entertainment.

Trivia Night

Paint N Enjoy

Enjoy a beer while feeling artistic! Paint N Enjoy is happening every Wednesday evening at Surfside Tap Room. Relax with a painting session and some pints of your favorite hand-craft beers, seasonal ales, porters, or stouts from local micro-breweries. The painting begins at 6pm and entrance includes paint, canvas, brushes, and a lesson.

Anyone who participates receives 15% off their bar tab; a nice deal!

Sunset Market

Thursday is Market Day in downtown Oceanside! From 5pm-9pm, the sun begins to set and the family-friendly Sunset Market comes alive.

This outdoor style festival brings together international food vendors, live entertainment and a children’s area – make an evening of it and stay for dinner!

The market also includes over 100 arts and crafts vendors, making it a wonderful place to purchase the perfect gift or souvenir.

Kids Marathon Mile at LEGOLAND® California

Kids Marathon at Legoland

LEGOLAND® California is host to a special, 1-mile fun run for kids of all ages and abilities.  Before the doors open to the public, they will be opened for you to enjoy the sights and sounds of LEGOLAND®! Participants can run, walk, skip, stroll, be pushed in a stroller or carried on a back as they wind through the park, making their way to an exciting, spectator-filled finish line. Each finisher is presented with a shiny finisher’s medal and treated to a fun post-event party with a DJ, activities, light refreshments and booths.

Western Surfing Association Championship Tour

This is a surfing competition at the beautiful Oceanside South Harbor Jetty Beach to qualify young competitors to the West Coast Championships, U.S. Championships, Prime Events & any World Team Events. Check out these young rippers who may end up on the pro-surfing tour one day! Sponsored by Western Surfing Association with the City of Oceanside, Parks & Recreation, and the Special Events Dept.  Free and open to the public, all ages will enjoy!

Trains for Kids

The North County Model Railroad Society (NCMRS) has just moved to its new home in Oceanside’s Heritage Park. Families are invited to the North County Model Railroad Museum every Saturday from 10am-3pm, for the “Trains for Kids” program. Every child will be welcome to run and operate the model trains.

Kids: American Sign Language Story Time

ASL Storytimes incorporate actual teaching of American Sign Language while singing and signing kid-friendly stories and songs aloud.  Storytimes develop early literacy, Deaf Culture awareness, social skills and inspire a love of language.  This free program is for children ages 12 months of age and older, and their parents or caregivers. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.

Live Music: Gone Blonde, Custard Pie at Pour House

Gone Blonde is a high energy 5-piece band playing music from the 60’s, through hits of today.  Featuring party favorites, they get people on the dance floor and keep them there.  With versatile sounds of classic funk to some of today’s best hits, the band’s electric stage energy will not allow anyone in the audience to sit still.

Followed up by Custard Pie, who is all about the music. Enjoy high gravity rock and roll, to have a Led Zeppelin type of experience! Known in North County as one of San Diego’s favorite rock bands, with great covers and originals.

Sunday, January 17:

Carlsbad Marathon

The Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half Marathon are scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016. Motion, Inc., the event organizer, announced that over 10,000 runners and walkers from all over the United States and many foreign countries are expected to participate in the race weekend festivities! The 26.2 and 13.1 mile courses will feature tours through Carlsbad Village, along the oceanfront Pacific Coast Highway and past sandy beaches and picturesque lagoons.

Live Music: Jefferson Washington at Pour House

Enjoy a Sunday night in January while you are downtown in Oceanside with LIVE Music at the Pour House on January 17th, starting at 9:00 pm with local band, Jefferson Washington. Expect some Blues, Folk, Americana, with acoustic guitar, some originals and cover songs, with Corey Leal for vocals in a musical duo.
