NOISES OFF

Star Theatre Oceanside Ca _ Noises Off LogoThe Star Theatre Company Presents NOISES OFF from September 25- October 4th in Oceanside, CA.

A comedic farce written by the Michael Frayn, this concept of a play within a play, in this case a dreadful farce called “Nothing On” — the type of production in which many doors continually open and shut. The setting has been transplanted from English provincial theatre to Des Moines, Iowa, where a second-rate theatrical troupe is preparing to perform the Broadway-bound. Complicating matters are the personal problems and backstage relationships that have fostered jealousy and petty squabbling and intruded upon any professionalism this motley crew can muster. As the company works its way to New York City, the eccentricities of the cast come to the forefront and the performances on the road dissolve into chaos on and off stage.

Supermoon Lunar Eclipse: Blood Moon coming out

Last seen in 1982 and absent again until 2033, the Supermoon Lunar Eclipse: Blood Moon is coming out to shine on September 27, 2015. No, this doesn’t mark the night where werewolves come out to play or other strange happenings occur, but instead this is an amazing sight to see and an event you won’t want to miss!

What Is The Supermoon Lunar Eclipse?

No doubt, there are plenty of legends and stories regarding the Blood Moon and its supernatural indications, but, unfortunately, there is nothing supernatural about the Blood Moon at all. This Supermoon Lunar Eclipse 2015 is a big deal because it occurs only under specific, rare conditions. When the Moon is closest to the Earth it is known as perigee, the opposite being apogee. This closeness, or perigee full moon, will make the Moon appear 14% larger and 40% brighter than during apogee full moons. Normal total lunar eclipses occur roughly every 2.5 years, making them pretty common for the average star gazer, but these are much rarer.

Lunar eclipse

See also: Four Blood Moons: Total Lunar Eclipse Series Not a Sign of Apocalypse

Eclipses occur when either the Earth or the Moon casts its shadow upon the other. A full Lunar Eclipse occurs then the entirety of the moon passes through Earth’s shadow and when four of these occur in sequence it is called a “Tetrad” – coincidently enough, this September’s total Supermoon Lunar Eclipse will be part of a Tetrad beginning in April of 2014! Click here for more information.

NASA officials state that the Supermoon will begin to dim slightly at 8:11 pm EDT on September 27 and the total eclipse, lasting 72 minutes, will begin at 10:11 pm EDT. Click here for local timing.

There will be many great places around San Diego to watch the Lunar Eclipse on September 27. As such, there are many amazing, beautiful places around Oceanside to watch it as well! The Blood Moon will be at its peak at 7:47 pm local time – plan ahead and make reservations!

Stargazers may want to check out the Eclipse from:

The Real World of Mission San Luis Rey

by Jim DownsThere are many thoughts about the Mission of San Luis Rey de Francia, founded by Friar Junipero Serra, and its impacts on the local native community of the San Luis Rey River Valley. Author Jim Downs explores questions of fair policies and integration of the Native Americans in Alta California and the impacts of the policies on the people they were intended to affect. Included are the stories and narratives of F. Antonio Peyri, O.F.M., a Luiseno Native American, who oversaw the construction of the mission, the involvement of Pio Pico, Mexico’s last governor of Alta California, and much more.

“This book is especially timely with the expected canonization in September of Father Serra”, Linda McIntosh writes in her blog, Book sheds new light on Mission San Luis Rey. This AP history teacher at Vista High School who spent five years filtering through the archives of Native Americans, archaeologists, and authors alike, will be conducting an author talk and signing on September 12 at 2 pm at the Barnes & Noble in Vista.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Mission San Luis Rey

Mission San Luis Rey de FranciaTaking you to places around and inside of the Mission San Luis Rey, Brad Byrom, a history professor at MiraCosta College, is revamping the age-old history lessons San Diego natives received about the Mission when they were kids. Jam-packed full of insights on the mission, the local Native Americans who built some unusual objects and features, Byrom volunteers his time each Saturday beginning at 1 pm. His mission is to get people excited about the history in the area, focusing on the historical facts and revealing both the good and bad sides of the Mission’s presence and history, and the impact it has had on local native communities.

Entrance costs $12, or $30 for a family, and all of the proceeds benefit mission operations. For a more details about what to expect, click here.

As such, in addition to being featured in The Surfers Journal — a magazine focusing on surfing and its culture — Short has created illustrations and artwork for PepsiCo, Microsoft, and Disney.
