San Diego Marathons 2015 | June Marathons

Running Events in San Diego County, June 2015

A recent report released by the American College of Sports Medicine lists San Diego CA as the third fittest city in the U.S. so of course it stands to reason that San Diego would always be chock-full of fun, fitness-related activities to partake in! Take a look at a couple of great long distance runs that are coming up in June 2015.

World Famous Mud Run | Camp Pendleton, June 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th

The World Famous Mud Run on Camp Pendleton is an Oceanside CA tradition. As the world’s dirtiest party, the Mud Run features challenging 10K and 5K runs with rolling hills, river crossings, two 5-foot walls, three massive mud pits, tunnels, slippery hill, a cargo climb and much more! Participants experience a day in Marine Corps life hanging with the few and the proud. Come for the run and stay for the fun at the Filthy Fun Fest!

The World Famous Mud Run, presented by First Command, is happy to announce that it is Drought-Conscious! Dr. Bronner’s New Magic Soap Shower Experience saves over 87% of water usage, and water is recycled back to Camp Pendleton’s aquifers.

Wild Horse Trail Half Marathon & 10K | Chula Vista, June 14th

The Wild Horse Trail Half Marathon is brought to you by Dirt Devil Racing and is the second race in both the Dirt Devil Racing Trail Half Marathon Series and the second in the Progressive Series. You will have the opportunity to run the flat course with beautiful views of Otay Lakes in Chula Vista, home of the Untied States Olympic Training Center. Then after the run, be sure to stay for the Awards Ceremony & Post Race Breakfast, being held on site with pizza bring provided.

Note that registration closes Thursday, June 4th at 12am.

What’s the right kind of Home Improvement Project to Get Loans For?

With just about any change in the economy, whether good or bad people are always trying to get a loan for some home improvement projects. They range anywhere from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands. The question we are asked very often is “what kind of loan am I most likely to get approved for” as it applies to home improvements.

We would like to point out that this is by no means gospel truth, as every loan officer and institution is different – there’s our disclaimer.

When moving forward on a loan for some work done at home, you’ll most likely get it for something that protects your assets, not just seeks to improve on their value. Consider for a moment the following loans you could get which would indeed protect your assets, but actually increase the perceived value of your home to potential buyers. The first and probably best and cheapest thing to do is buy a lightning protection system online then have a local contractor install it for a few hundred bucks. This entire thing will cost you less than a grand, but the payoff could be huge from a bank or new homeowner who sees that you keep your assets secure and well taken care of.

You can never go wrong doing something like this. You might also consider getting some kind of hurricane protection system also if you have that kind of weather. Other great ideas worthy of improving your equity while not worrying if you’ll get approved for a loan:

1) Home alarm system (cheap-o ideas here)
2) Home water purification system
3) Solar panels

-Those are all good ideas for getting some work done that may not necessarily improve how you feel while inside your home or do much to improve the looks, but you’ll sleep better with any one of those installed. Hope this helps!

San Diego, California is a fit city where we love to be outdoors, take hikes, try the newest workout routines, and stay healthy. Since that is the case, San Diego running events are always easy to find, and there are definitely some fun San Diego runs to participate in. Here are two that are happening in San Diego County this month.

Yucatan Guacamole Avocado Half Marathon & 5K | Fallbrook, May 23rd

Fallbrook, CA is known as “Avocado Country” and this new, scenic run will take you through the beautiful Fallbrook countryside, the rolling hills, and the lovely outdoors of San Diego County.

This is the 2nd Annual Yucatan Guacamole Avocado Half Marathon & 5K, but despite the fact that it is so new, this run is quickly becoming a hit! This year, their Charitable Partnership is with Fueled by the Fallen, whose mission is to “honor the military and those public services agents that have lost their life protecting us and this great country”.

Although the 5K is sold out, the half marathon still has open spots available, so if you’re interested, be sure to register ASAP!

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & 1/2 Marathon | San Diego – May 29th – 31st

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon & 1/2 Marathon are not just running events; they are amazing experiences. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series starts on May 29th with a two-day Health & Fitness Expo at the San Diego Convention Center, an event not only for participants but also open and free to the public.

May 30th kicks off the first race, the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego 5K, and May 31st is the Suja Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon & 1/2 Marathon To Benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This May weekend will be filled with health-conscious individuals, runners of all kinds, great health information, and a lots of fun!
